About me

About me

My name is Patricia Bedoya, and I am a designer in the broadest and most profound sense of the word. I live in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, where I explore the intersections of design, technology, and human experience. My journey began in interior design, shaping physical spaces that define how people interact with their surroundings. Over time, I came to understand that design is not merely a profession—it is a way of perceiving and structuring the world, a mindset that transcends disciplines and mediums.

Throughout my career, I have designed buildings, schools, retail spaces, interfaces, websites, apps, ceramics, paintings, and illustrations. The medium is secondary; what truly matters is the relentless pursuit of the most elegant and optimized solution to a problem—a philosophy that is both essential and transcendent.

Offform: Form Follows Flow

Design has long been bound by the doctrine of “Form follows function,” a principle articulated by architect Louis Sullivan that dictated how structures should emerge directly from their intended use. This paradigm holds true in the world of architecture and physical environments, where form is static and function is largely predetermined.

However, in the digital realm, design operates under entirely different parameters. Digital products are not fixed entities; they are fluid, evolving with every interaction, adapting to the user, the device, and the context in which they exist. This is why I embrace the philosophy of “Form Follows Flow”—a concept that prioritizes adaptability, experience, and interaction over rigid structures.

This belief is embodied in Offform, a name that fuses two fundamental ideas: “Off” (beyond conventions, outside the norm) and “Form” (structure, design). It represents an approach to design that does not adhere to predefined rules but instead redefines them, creating solutions that emerge organically through experience and continuous iteration. To design well is not to impose form but to allow it to materialize from the dynamic interplay of user behavior and evolving technology.

Accessibility plays a crucial role in this philosophy. True digital design must be inclusive, flexible, and empowering, ensuring that products can be experienced by everyone, regardless of ability. Designing with accessibility in mind is not an afterthought—it is an essential part of crafting meaningful digital interactions.

Chubby Apps: Crafting Intuitive Digital Experiences

In 2020, I co-founded Chubby Apps, a design and development studio where we create software that requires no instruction manual—products that feel intuitive, natural, and inherently human.

Since our inception, we have launched projects such as FitWoody (an activity tracker free from unnecessary complexity) and Cori (a health coach designed for individuals with diabetes). These initiatives have garnered global recognition, and I am honored to be an Apple Entrepreneur Camp Alumni, an exclusive program that supports innovative founders in shaping the future of technology.

Our work has also led us to be selected for Pfizer’s acceleration program in Madrid and Boston, where we have applied our design expertise to healthcare and wellness, demonstrating the transformative power of thoughtful digital experiences.

Now, we stand on the brink of launching our third startup, continuing to challenge the limits of what intuitive, impactful, and beautifully crafted digital products can achieve.

Commitment to Education and Entrepreneurship

Beyond my work at Chubby Apps, I am deeply invested in the future of design education and entrepreneurship. I serve as a mentor at IDArte, where I work closely with students in the Basque public education system, bridging the gap between academic theory and the practical realities of professional design.

Additionally, I am a board member of AMPEA, an association dedicated to supporting and elevating female entrepreneurs and professionals, fostering innovation, leadership, and meaningful impact in the business world.

This blog, Offform, is my space to reflect, challenge, and explore the evolving landscape of design, technology, and entrepreneurship. It is a place where I articulate my thoughts on the nature of digital experiences, the philosophy of fluid design, and the intricate relationship between aesthetics, accessibility, and functionality.

Welcome to Offform—a manifesto for those who refuse to be bound by convention.
